PROJECT X

The need to address the tragic euthanasia numbers in our county and to help reduce the financial barriers to pet owners has been a constant problem that has plagued both veterinarians and citizens of Stanislaus County.  Stanislaus County Animal Services is a department which is overburdened and understaffed especially in light of the current budgetary demands.  With the current economic difficulties, it is unlikely that the cities within Stanislaus County are capable of offering more services.  History has proven that government institutions will never provide a service as efficiently or economically as the private sector.  As such, the veterinary community of Stanislaus County recognizes the need to step forward and offer a solution to the ongoing issue of pet-overpopulation.

Project X, is a low cost spay/neuter project launched by Dr. Rob Santos of Turlock, 4 years ago.  This program has been successfully integrated into 12 Stanislaus County Veterinary Hospitals, and has allowed over 7000 dogs and cats to be neutered since June of 2009  in a manner that is not disruptive to daily practice.
